Everybody is adjusting their lives around COVID-19.
What started out as something we all thought would pass quickly now has the world in its grip.
A new world takes shape. In this world humility is the order of the day. This is a world where we suddenly realise how fragile we actually are.
While most of us are stuck at home trying to do our work from the confines of our home office, a fleet of healthcare workers risk life and limb to secure the well-being of those in need. And so is the case with our medical team.
Dialysis goes on. The need for treatment by our patients does not slow down because of a pandemic. However, the risk of infection is heightened as contact with the patient becomes unavoidable and distancing cannot always be maintained. In our clinics, maximum measures are taken to ensure the safety of every patient and caregiver whilst maintaining our highest standard of service delivery.
There are not enough words to describe the debt of gratitude we all feel towards these selfless heroes. Many societies have adopted a tradition of clapping and cheering at 8 or 9 pm in the evening, in recognition of their medical personnel. A small token of acknowledgement in these difficult times.
I would like to dedicate this first blog to our medical team as a gesture of our appreciation for their effort and commitment. Thank you for continuing to serve our patients without fail while standing in the front lines of this war against COVID-19.
